Miami International Boat Show

I just wanted to point out that everything looks in place to start moving boats in for the Miami Boat Show starting Thursday February 16th.
I was fortunate to be down in that area yesterday 2/4.

The picture above simply can't depict the huge in water display area. I also understand the Water Taxi issues between show locations last year should be greatly improved this year. I have other photos I will try to post later.

The size of the "tents" is even more amazing than the docks. I hope they solve the transportation issues this year

The Virginia Key site is excellent for the new boat displays, with views of the Miami skyline that are incredible! Aside from that., Saturday was another frigid mid winter February day in South Florida. It only got up to 80 degrees. I was amazed at how many people were out boating without sweaters and mittens on...

You are right Pascal. The temporary display building behind the old Marine Stadium stretches over a half mile long. I can't imagine the show EVER going back to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

I'm solving the transportation problems of last year by anchoring our boat across the show at Virginia Beach the night before we go. Then have my son dingy us to the beach and cross the street to the show entrance.

That picture shows everything that is wrong with modern boats. It looks like any of those people who have no seats to sit in could slip under that railing at any moment. Those fenders and lines hanging off of her just add to that classy modern look.

The fenders dangling off the side are a strong sign of cluelessness... pretty common here in Miami. The fact that this was likely a "licensed captain"'make it worst.

I'd hate having all the hot scantily clad ladies on my boat. I'd make them sit inside and cover up.

Every time I see a scene like that with people just sitting with nothing to protect them from sliding into the water I cringe. Just another example of form over function. Very sad.

And notice how the operator has no visibility whatsoever due to all the people on the foredeck...

He could have been approaching the new Watson island mega yacht marina, just off his starboard bow but there are few boats that "small" using it

(Been having trouble with uploading photos). If this works here are a couple of more pics from Saturday. They include a pretty sturdy looking staircase installed on a 74 Hatteras Day Charter boat. Photo 2 is another dangerous example of South Florida style "distracted" boating in February. Photo 3 is the elegant craft belonging to Dallas Mavericks Owner and Shark Tank Super Star Mark Cuban.

Hey...It was only 80 degrees in Miami on Saturday. The women on the Sea Ray obviously had consumed enough alcohol to be unaware of the frostbite danger! What happens in case of a sudden stop? !!! Not to mention someone losing their balance while everybody is covered in suntan oil!

There is always something interesting to see when you are boating. I agree that a motor yacht design... preferably with an on deck hot tub would be way more functional at keeping the party closer to the captain!
