Wouldn't hull side windows be coated in salt spray crystals and yucky to look through anyway? Prefer opening porthole style that wind can blow through, they are small and waterproof, and you can see out when open.
I would think for sure. I assume they're made of polycarbonate for impact resistance/flexibility. If so, they would be easy to scratch. A little airborne dust, a little salt, and a damp cloth will scratch them for sure. Those have got to be a cleaning nightmare. They'll be like the headlight lenses on cars that cloud over time.
