Mechanical gauges in the ER.

I would like to install mechanical gauges in my ER.

Any recommendations as to manufacture and where to buy them.

I plan to install mechanical temp and oil pressure. Saw some on dieselpro.com that looked good.

Look at Isspro's web site. They may be on the other coast, but they have excellent service.

What you want would be, I think, oil pressure, coolant/water temp, maybe a voltmeter on each. If you can get mechanical gauges, so much the better. And with lights in them, so if you install a camera to keep watch on them, it can see them.

And if you want to be cool and "period correct", Stewart-Warner, although it is not the same company as it was in the past.

I added fuel pressure gauges in my er (actually they are repurposed oil pressure gauges) to measure pressure between the fuel pump and the injectors. This should tell me when my secondary fuel filters need changing without my guessing.

So far the vacuum gauges on my Racors have always handled dirt. Once I thought I may have had a clogged secondary. After changing it in a hot er, in moderate seas, I decided not to do that again.

Just a thought and maybe a dumb question but since I plan to mount them somewhere in my engine room that will end up being close to the lower helm panel. Why not just replace the electronic gauges on the lower helm panel with the mechanical gauges and just keep the electronic gauges on the fly bridge as they are.

Why not just replace the electronic gauges on the lower helm panel with the mechanical gauges and just keep the electronic gauges on the fly bridge as they are.

I have full mechanical gauges and tachs on the bridge. If your looking for more dependable and accurate engine instruments why not have them at the helm.
