Does anyone know if PAR/Jabsco still make the large brass-cylinder manual bilge pump that used to be fitted to Hatteras Yachts way back when? I have one, but the piston is frozen in the cylinder. PAR still make a smaller version of this, but if I am going to replace it, I would like to get the largest one, which was OEM to the boat. Not that I plan to use it in the near future, but I don't like having things on the boat that don't work. Any information appreciated. Today being a holiday, I can't reach Jabsco to find out. PAR, incidentally, stands for Peters & Russell, the original makers of the pump, if anyone's interested......
(I found this out by having unexpectedly to clean out the locker between the head compartment and the stateroom. There was an unopened plastic gallon bottle of CarQuest antifreeze which sprung a leak from the bottom of the plastic bottle. Fortunately it was still sealed at the top; the vacuum at the top of the bottle created by the leak held it back a bit. I have never seen one of these bottles leak on its own before. While I was in the locker I decided to see if the pump would still move and it didn't, so now I am looking for its replacement.)
