Well finally after waiting one year, our house is finally leased out! we're so exited! Yaisy and I look and feel like kids giggling and the boys are ecstatic. In reality, it really isn't much of a major change because we spend 2 to 4 days a week on the boat anyways. The boys are small and we're still young so the choice was an easy one for us. You should see the look of our friends faces though, LOL.

Pascal, Angela, Look out! there went the neighborhood...

Congratulations Mario.

Will you guys be cruising and home schooling the kids, or will you take a marina residence? Either way, best of luck in your new venture. My wife and I lived and cruised almost full time after retirement and really enjoyed it. Wish we had started earlier like you and Yaisy. We only had six years together before she died.

All the best,
Bob

Thanks Bob! Aside from our usual local cruising, we will stay at our marina and the kids will go to school as usual. icidentally, our commute to and from work is faster and less hectic. Sorry to hear about your wife, I'm sure your time together aboard was wonderful.

Mario

Congrats! We're in the process of packing up the house to to the exact same thing. Our tentative move-in date is March 1, but that depends on whether the heat on the boat is fixed by then (actually done being installed).

Congrats to the Gonzalez family!!! No regrets, I'm sure.

I hope you're still able to make it to the raft up, meaning I hope you don't have to work. Mario, I sent you a PM asking for our hull scrubber's number - only I can manage to get a crab pot line wrapped around my running gear while sitting in the slip. :( This is the second time I've had my gear fouled with line in the slip. Geez!

Hi Ang!

Yes, i'm off and we'll make the HOF raft up. Mardo's number is 786-291-1156

Went to college with a guy who went through 3 years of correspondence school, high school, while living in his parent 60 sail boat. Most of the time they were in the Virgin Islands. Mom was the teacher and rest over the radio, Way before internet and laptops etc. Would have been 78-79 through 81. Believe he did one year on the mainland somwhere in FL. After that they wound up in St pete.

congratulations !!!

my only regret about livingaboard is not having it done sooner... 5 1/2 years now...

53/58s are the ideal liveaboard.

Mario – I’m envious. You have a beautiful boat and beautiful family. I too have two little boys (checked out pics on your blog). Glad to hear you got all your ducks in a row, wish you all the best.

You know what? it feels like we are cheating "the system". and you know what else? it feels reeal goood! :)

That is awesome. I wish I could live on my boat year round. Unfortunately, in the winter, it's much nicer to have a place with a wood stove where I live.

It's not the same but in a couple of years we plan to live aboard Brigadoon for 1/2 the year. Yes, we'll bail in the winter!

I don't think that we would be happy living full time on the boat - we both have interests that aren't well suited to it. I have a bunch of hobbies that take more room then any boat we could afford could possibly handle! :)

But we both think it will be really neat to spend serious extended time living on the boat though we won't be anywhere in the class of REAL liveaboards.

Wow, Mario, that is so cool! I didn't realize that you also wanted to try the l/a lifestyle....def. frequent the l/a forum, lots of good stuff there too...I am so glad for you four and want to continue to read about how things go...

Cheers, Laurie & Jim

My wife and I live aboard our 36 Hat from Jan. 1st. to late April. Our duties and interests call us back to Detroit then. We love it but I don't think we could take summer in Miami. Neither of us is a big fan of using A/C. So far this winter our Cruiseair units have spent most of their time making heat. I am not complaining we both love south Florida weather and our Hatteras. We'll see many of you at the HOF raft up during the Miami show.:)
