Loud Air Handlers

So, we still have 2 factory cruise air split units. They work like a champ. But the damn air handlers are so noisy.

Has anyone addressed this . It's on a 46'c. Maybe insulate the compartments they're in? Improve on the mounting? Anything?

I know the obvious answer is replace them with self contained systems but I hate to create projects when there is always something broke that needs my attention.

How about duct size? I went to new hi capacity air handlers on a split. The return specification is much larger. It is somewhat quieter when I remove the air grill surround panel.

Depends on where they are located... on some older hatts they were installed high up and very close to the outlet. When they are mounted down low with the longer duct you don’t hear them as much and they are just as effective

Been installing split system evaps for a while. Get them behind a cabinet and run lots of duct and you will never hear them.
In replacing the old rear fan evap stations on our Bertram with later model units blowing straight into the stateroom (15 years ago), I can testify, just 6 feet of duct will quiet that dam blower noise down, do not direct the air straight from the blower into the area to be cooled.
That insulation does more than keep the sweating down.
