Losing coolant and making oil!

I'd also be checking the injector tubes. As mentioned earlier, don't let the coolant sit in the oil. Even if all you can do is drain it and poor clean oil through, get the contaminated oil out ASAP.

Turns out we dodged the bullet! Replaced the water pump, filled with distilled water and pressure checked, it held 10 psi. Then put fresh oil in the engine and ran. Engine came up to operating temp and thermostat opened and it held 160 degrees with no load. Then drained the new oil and refilled to flush the system. Ran engine again and put under load. Oil level stayed the same and heat exchanger had the same level before and after test. Seems to be fine now after three trips out and few hours of run time. It appears to be the original water pump and had a much smaller (and plugged) weep hole and the new style pump on the other engine.

Thanks for sharing all your advice and experience!

Glad it was an easy fix.

Lucky vs. good, ... Take lucky every time.

It's nice to catch a break once in a while. Congrats.
