If the ride slackens off, the weight of chain on each side of the snubber is enough weight to keep tension on the lines and the snubber secure,just like a if using a chain hook
Recently is wanted to use snubber to stop he noise if the chain ratling on the SS chute at night and didn't have a snubber set up. I used a big carabiner and just a single line thru the chute with chafing protection. It works fine and easy to set up / remove. Although obviously foredeck access on an 84' MY is pretty safe
