I have a friend with 4500 hours and it's still running strong. He to was told to rebuild. Another mechanic after inspection stated the motors were strong. Get another opinion from a mechanic you and others trust.

Mechanic said he saw no evidence of blow by when he was doing compression check and also suggested the problem might be with the air seps. At least now I know it is more fun a maintenance issue vs. a major issue.

Yes I have the boat on the market at what I thought was a reasonable price but am told that it's comparable prices are at least $50,000 less...I just can't bring myself to let her go that cheap...when I scan yacht world I just don't see any boat that excites me like Doc's Holiday and I know how she has been babied for the last 15 years.

Yes, she is more space than we need since we don't live aboard anymore and yes I don't have the mechanical skills to do more than basic maintenance but I love traveling in her and I know most on this forum know the feeling of relaxation and solitude that comes with anchoring out in a quite cove on a moonlite night.

My plan is to keep her in top shape and enjoy her while I am still semi retired unless I can get close to what I feel she is worth.

Someone on this site once wrote that there are two kinds of people that list their boats for sale....."listers"..those who just can't bear to lose money on a boat so set the prices above market value ...and sellers ....who set the prices low to get rid of their boats. I think there is a third category...those like me that are emotionally attached to their boat and know they are going to have separation anxiety so put a value that is realistic to them with the hope that someone will come along and see the same value and will take care of her, maybe even better than she has been taken care of in the past. These are grand old boats that have a style that we all know just doesn't exist in current design.

Just and update: Thanks to the generous suggestions of forum members we found the problem. The
air box check valves were removed, found to be functional and so we pressurized the fuel cooler
which was found to be leaking and most likely the cause of the exhaust sheen on the water. Thanks to
all and especially to Genesis.

Well that's good news. Did you have the DD guys come down from Panama City or use the local wrench benders? We will be down again at the end of the month. WOrk on a few more things and head South.

Funny, I didn't notice that he posted at all on this thread. In fact, he last posted on this forum on 9-3-14.
