I think we should all go out in the street and fire off a few rounds in tribute to Rio de Janeiro's "victory". Brother they can have it.

I have selfish reasons to rejoice over Chicago's loss of the Olympics as it was gonna close Burnham Harbor for the Summer, but the fact is, we have all had a great weight lifted. "The City that Works" has become the city that works the angles. There were already accusations flying about clouted advantages going to some of Daleys machine members. It would have been ugly.

so what does it cost to deploy 2 747s, an air force transport, limos, 600+ staff, etc...

plus his wife traveling on a separate plane with her own entourage. I hope chicago picks up the tab for that stupid stunt... yeah right...

even in his speech he coudlnt' avoid attacking his predecessor.

I heard on the radio that is cost $1.5M just for fuel for those two jets round trip.

Don't worry about the fuel costs. The cost of operation of a 747, or for that matter, any jet airplane is only about 8% fuel. A 747 surely costs us alot. The limos, helicopters, and secret service folks all come in other airplanes. There are about four air force transports required to haul all that support stuff. They run about 3 days ahead of the president. Nice eh?

My daughter is living in Copenhagen and she says that you have double whatever you think something should cost and then double it again. She says she goes to Sweden to shop for bargains for cryin' out loud! A 600 person entourage? Don't want to know what we spent on hotel bills over there. Oh well, nothing compared to what the Illinois elected officials would have spent on their buddies.

Heard this morning Jesse Jackson is blaming Geo. Bush for the loss of the olympics due to not signing the Kyoto protocal. How dumb is he? The senate voted that down! I agree with Randy that the Utube vidio of the black kids killing each other was the kicker.
