Should have been through bolted!

Is that really a hatteras ?

I helped replace all the wood on a Grand Banks. They were through bolted and it ripped out the same way. Mother Nature.

Rotted core? I found one of mine soft a couple years back.

The whole area should be solid glass at least up to a couple of inches from the opening.

Yup - 1984 52C

I live 2 miles from the factory. My neighbor retired from there after 28 years and probably worked on this one. He said back then they just screwed them in!

If the hausepipe would have held would it have sunk the boat? Looks like some serious force trying to float there. This giving way may have saved the boat?

No....would not have sunk! Lines parted and probably still would have parted just a little later.

Even through bolted, things sometimes go awry. Not sure if the core was wet before Isaias, but sure was by time I got to digging it out. You know finding 3/8" 2.25" long oval slotted head silicone bronze machine screws to replace originals is next to near impossible these days, turning out to be hardest part of job.

As I’ve said about the 52 Ballarina”I saw ripped open and sunk the hull on these is pretty thin.
