  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
Installed some corian counter tops and new fuel tanks last season....and since the install, the boat now has a slight list to port. Need some long skinny lead bar weights to put outboard of the stringers on the starboard side to level her out. Thinkin a couple hundred pounds would do it.....
Anybody know where to get some??
Thx

Plumbing wholesale Co's used to sell lead goods and usually bought them locally, suggest you contact local plumbing wholesale house, (not home depot), and ask if they have a source for lead goods. Otherwise...it's yellow pages and Google.

Anybody know where to get some??QUOTE]You might try a very large tire store. Most have buckets full of lead weights.Might be easier to move around. It also melts easy so you could make your own with a small tourch.

You could also use steel from a scrap yard. Much cheaper than lead and you'd be amazed how small a space 200 to 300 lbs. of steel will be. Just paint it so it won't rust.

How about concrete? You can pour it to fit any shape you wish.

Me thinks you know someone who could supply it!!! LOL

how about pvc pipe?? use the largest pipe that will suit, assemble with a t fitting and two end caps then fill in place with lead shot through the t. not the cheapest way but clean, neat, easily adjustable and can work in tight/narrow when others wont. lock pipes in place with spray foam or caulk . need more weight use more than one length. because it is sealed you can use steel shot which should be less cost

old batteries...drain the acid!

Increase the value with gold bars.

Check with your local hospital. I got 7000 pounds of lead for ballast for my sailboat 10 years ago. They were just throwing it away. Its encased in plastic (medicine containers) and would cost them more to ship back to supplier than worth. You have to take the time to hit it with a hammer to break off the plastic and put it in a pot to melt it down. No problem. Make a small contribution to the hospital.
