  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I have been working on various designs of swim platforms and stair systems to go on a swim platform and inquired with a company about getting a laser scan done of the stern.

Here is what he told me:

Roughly $3500 for the stern, swim platform and window outlines cleaned up and put into a CAD solid model (STEP file I'm assuming)

He said just a rough guess to do the whole boat $7500 to $10000

I know others on here have been at least mildly interested in having something like this done.

My pockets aren't deep enough to tackle something like this so I thought I would pass it along.

Perhaps if we got 5 or 10 people willing to participate it would be more affordable.

Just a thought!

Here is another thought: There are two steps to this process, one is getting the laser scan done, then the manual manipulation of this scan data turning it into a solid model is probably where a lot of the cost comes from. If anyone has access to a scanner maybe it could be cheaper as a "do it ourselves" kind of project.

Just throwing it out there.

I had the transom laser scanned of my 54 Viking MY. It cost me $2500 but it was understood that I was going
Thru with transom and swim platform modifications. In other words, it may have cost more had I just had the
Scan done by itself. I am extending the platform and adding stairs down to the swim platform. Fleming Marine
Composites is doing the work out of Palm beach Gardens. The modifications were based off pictures I had
Of a hatteras 60 MY. I met the owner of the Hatteras and he said it was done by the factory. that was a
Surprise to me as I thought it was custom.IMG_0280.webpIMG_0275.webpIMG_0280.webpIMG_0275.webpIMG_0280.webpIMG_0275.webp

That is a pretty nice setup. I see the stairs on the starboard side, what is that on the port side, it almost looks like there might be some kind of drawers or storage lockers?

Storage Locker. If you want more pictures I have them. Maybe a moderator will eliminate the duplicate pictures in my post. Sorry about that

I just left the boat, but will nurf it next weekend to see if you like that. My phone lidar didn't like the shinny hull.

10K is too much. I have flown scanners across the us and scanned 2,000 ft of central park for less than that. You can rent a Leica lidar too. 1-3k a week. That is the top of the scan list. I haven't used the small BLK line, but talked to them about it.
