Since our 48 LRC is in the water exposed to NC weather 12 months a year, except when being enjoyed, I keep the teak rails protected with Sunbrella covers. Covers or no covers the varnish finish has broken down and is now peeling in a few places. So, a full stripping and refinish is in order.
I have read all the past postings on the options for refinishing, which are mostly from a while back.
Thus my request for suggestions on the process and in particular what finish to use.
My current plan is:
Chemically remove the old finish
Bleach the bare teak to restore consistent color
Then refinish.
My priority is a clear mirror finish that allows the honey color teak to stand out.
Specific recommendations, including brand names and application processes, would be appreciated on what works best.
Thanks
Pete
