Parade of lights sounds fun to me. We would need to get a sitter for the kiddeos. Let me talk to my wife and I'll let you know. It is a gracious offer (especially in the lead boat!) and hopefully we can make it! If we need to be at the dock by 4 though what time do you think you'll send the limo over to get us, or will you be sending the helicopter this time??? :D :D

What time do you think we'd be back at the dock (for planning purposes for the sitter!)?

On the dealership call...I actually thought it might be you calling when i saw the caller I.D. pop up!

We should be leaving the dock at 4pm, returning about 7. We're up to 12 folks on the boat, and there's always room for a couple more......especially since we're boarding the dogs ;-)

I've got an operations meeting at 1, and the Skippers meeting at 3, but my wife and others will be on the dock finishing the prep on the boat, so you can show up anytime.

Do you still have a cell number for me? Let me know if not, and I'll forward it.

Pascoe is fun to read...gone through his site quite a few times over the last couple years!

Ed...I am sending you a PM.

If i was to buy an express, I would not consider anything other than a Tiara. These things are built and I believe one of the finest quality production boats made. Think Pasco agrees.

I agree that Tiara builds a great boat. It's interesting that Hatteras bought the Tiara factory in Swansboro, NC last year. They are using it to build the 54's. Another smaller express boat that I like is the Albemarle. I have fished a 32 in some pretty rough water and was impressed with it.

My previous boat was a 1986 Tiara 36 express 3208cat's and I was very happy with her. the gelcoat was so good that when I wax/compounded the boat it was the best come back I've ever seen, she shined like new and sold quickly :)

We went from the Bayliner forum to the Tiara forum. In this case, however, I have to agree. My dad owned a 36 Tiara Convertible and a 43 open. Both built well, if you like that kind of boat. I didn't mind the convertible, but the open/express styles do not appeal to me. I just can't see paying for a hull and getting half of a boat. Where is the cabin top? What a great idea for the manufacturer, though. Give them less and charge them more. Why didn't I think of that?

I could have bought a nice Hat for what I paid for my Fountain, but it does go 72 mph when I want and conditions allow. So I have both, a Hat for serious stuff and a Fountian to play.

They aren't real stable at mid speeds. They seem to handle fine at slow speeds and at 20+ knots. In between they wallow around aimlessly. A friend said it is their hull design. A friend has a 1990 36' Tiara convertable. It weighs 19000 while our 36 Hatteras weighs 26000. I think you could put the whole boat inside ours. It is not very big. He also told me that it handles lousy at mid speeds. He has 3208 Cats.

I could sell you my 182 Cessna, it cruises at 133 knots. I don't boat for speed. I guess I got all that out of my system when I made my living driving fuel dragsters in the 60s. Believe me, those will cure your thirst for speed.

I consider the ability to get out to the Big Rock out of Morehead City in an hour cruising at 50 a big advantage, since you get an extra two and half hours of fishing time. If the conditions are great it is a lot of fun in an open boat, the other times will be in the Hat. Besides, I get 1.5 mpg at that speed. I can go out, fish all day, and back and only burn a 100 gallons. The biggest problem I have is it is it is awful diificult to catch anything when your boat is on the hard. LOL I suppose I could go stand on the bridge and make engine sounds. :D

Ha ha ......

Well if you come down on day like it was friday with a wind chill of about 16 in the early am , instead of Vrooom, vroooom, it's going to sound more like Brrrrrrrrr , Brrrrrrrrrr

:D

I got the fuel flow data for the 42' Cruisers with gas engines (8.1 Horizons) yesterday and was able to determine that at 10 knots the 58' hatt and the 42' Cruisers had he same fuel burn so I can at least say that at normal cruising speed cost is not higher between the 2 boats! Granted @ higher speeds the Cruisers was less costly but heh....it's all in the presentation, right??!!!

If not the Hatt I hope it is at least the 4788, though obviously that is still apples to oranges (despite the secret love of hatt owners for the 4788!! LOL)

Hey we all still look at pretty girls, but I don't think most of us would trade what we have. LOL You know there is nothing wrong with owning "two" boats. They don't get jealous of each other, unlike women. LOL :D
