Re the shooting in Germany the President said:

"I want everybody to understand that we will spare no effort in learning how this outrageous act took place and in working with German authorities to ensure that all of the perpetrators are brought to justice."

Can't anybody say something like, "We are going to kill the perpetrators and everyone involved."

What weenies we have become... :(

just like nothing has been done, and nothing will be done, about the murder of the four Americans by somalian thugs a week ago.

the community organizer in chief is starting to make Jimmy Carter look like a decent president. who would have thought!

Simple

They elected a muslim to lead our country. Right into the hands of those that want to kill us.

So what's changed? Who said this?

"The terrorists practice a fringe form of Islamic extremism that has been rejected by Muslim scholars and the vast majority of Muslim clerics, a fringe movement that perverts the peaceful teachings of Islam.*

I also want to speak tonight directly to Muslims throughout the world.*We respect your faith.*It's practiced freely by many millions of Americans, and by millions more in countries that America counts as friends.*Its teachings are good and peaceful, and those who commit evil in the name of Allah blaspheme the name of Allah.*The terrorists are traitors to their own faith, trying, in effect, to hijack Islam itself.*The enemy of America is not our many Muslim friends; it is not our many Arab friends"

"Quite a bit since this era:"

Ah yes, I remember it well! President Reagan wasn't afraid to "use the big stick" rather than just try to talk the bad guys to death.

That would have been "W" and I am sure he was trying to keep public opinion on his side because he was not smart enough to rally the American people to the cause of killing those who try to do us harm.

Stoning women, that are hidden behind a vail (even if they don't like it), that lack the right to go to school. That might not be "good and peaceful".

My son is rotating back from the war zone on Fri. A couple days earlier and he could have been caught up in this. Why we use subcontractors for our troop transport is beyond me. The guys would be much safer on a Airforce aircraft going to and from secure bases than some old POS worn out airliner run by some politicly connected charter outfit.

Amen to that. He will be glad to be home. Thank him for serving, and we sure do support those guys.

I think the point is that westerners are hard pressed to make sense of the mid-east mind set. How can you be rational with the irrational? From a very early age, religious schools indocterinate their children with a sort of tribal mentality, us vs the satanic west. Hard to change that kind of imprinting.

Yes, there are moderates - many in fact that can temper dogma with rational thought, but there are many who can not. What I find most disturbing is this jihad is not limited to a minority of disenfranchaised youth, but also embraced by youth with otherwise promising futures. How can you combat that when the enemy acts, behaves and walks among us? They work with us and attend our schools on student visas only to use that chemical engineering training to build better bombs.

I agree, appeasment and exercised restraint of the past 30 years has not been effective. The only thing that will be effective is the gradual acceptance of diversity among cultures and embracing a world community. Something I am not optimistic about ever seeing in my lifetime.

Oh, we could nuke the bastards but that ain't going to happen either - radioactive fallout does not respect national borders.

getting off soapbox now

Those daisey cutters are only good for 10 blocks at a time. Take too long.

Regan sent the F111's in to Libya as a response. So whats your point George?

And some of that damage is still there. When Mo the nut gave one of his comical rants he was at one of the sights, his home i think, that bombs hit.

I just hope bo doesn't go to Libia and give Mo a hug or a bow.

Any thoughts of "well it was only a few radicals".... was totally dashed when I saw the news clips of the celebrations in the streets of the so called peace loving muslum countries in the middle east hours after 9/11. Well we can't nuke them because as was already said, fallout doesn't know political borders. Instead we should consider the neutron bomb, that way we don't wreck the oil pumping equipment as well.

Anger about this whole mess doesn't even come close to what I feel. Forget Reagan, Carter, Bush(s) etc., we need Teddy Roosevelt now...more than ever.

Well part of my point is, Ghaddafi is still in power, perhaps not much longer, but still there over 20 years later, isn't he. Indeed Libya pretty much went right on along after RWR's little warning shots.

And other than a few shells lobbed from the Iowa, Lebanon was a total cut and run, helping give birth to a strong Hezbollah. I can't think of a president from either party who has been effective at making things better rather than worse over there. So to think that "soft talk" and appeasement is a new phenomena is just plain historically incorrect.
