I am trying to interface my Northstar GPS with my old Robertson AP200DL autopilot. I followed the instructions for the NMEA connections but the two units will not talk. Is there a trick to getting them to communicate? I have set the GPS to output the proper sentences, and have connected the NMEA data and ground connections per the respective wiring diagrams/instructions from each unit. Is there possibly an issue based on the generation gap between the units? The GPS is new, and the pilot is late 80's vintage. Both claim to be NMEA 0183 compliant. Anyone here have any experience with this issue?
