It seems that in California there are a lot of things that you can't, or must, do.

Right now (in California) one of my marina neighbors is having to file from having her boat rammed at the dock. The guy didn't want to pay but his mandatory insurance is taking care of it.

This past summer we ran aground on an unmarked shoal with our 1994 48cpmy. It tore up the props, sucked sand and debris into the intake and ultimately blew our port engine. State Farm paid out over $75k with hardly any questions asked. They wanted a few photos and a report from the mechanic. Our premiums went from $120/mo to $180/mo with a $3000 deductible. I kind of thought that’s pretty reasonable for a $250,000 motor yacht.
