  1. OWNER - I own a different brand
Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
Hello everyone currently an owner of a 2001 Sea Ray 340 sundancer . I'm interested in a 36' or 37' convertible. I boat Lake Erie in the western basin. My home port is Catawba Is. at Herls Harbor. For starters I'm not a fisherman. Both models offer a good outside area. Now I start the boating season in April and into late October. The salon would be great when the weather is not nice out. It's just the two of us so the galley down is right up my alley. Any insights and information would be great.

The best plan IMHO is to go look at several boats in person. That way you can get a sense for space,
comfort and amenities. You may decide that a 42' or 46' would be better. You won't really know until
you step aboard. Buy the boat that you like best.

What Eric said is right on. I really wanted a 43-46 at 1st, but now that I have made 1 million trips to the engine room by way of the cockpit, I can't imagine one without that access. My wife is exactly of the same mind set, based on the interior room in our 52c.

Find a boat that is mostly original. In my experience, most modifications are not done properly.

I had a 1986 36’ sedan bridge that I kept in Catawba. Had the boat for 4 years until we moved up to a 52c. Loved the boat until we started having kids. It was a galley down which is a great layout for a cruising couple. Nice salon, big shower but small cockpit in that model. Great sea boat for its size but slow with gas engines. 14-15kt cruise.

Did you mean done improperly? Because in that case, I would agree with you.

I realize it's bigger than you mentioned, bu 4 years ago I sold my 1979 43C to an older couple here in CT. It was in very good shape and surveyed well. Sadly, the gentleman died and it's now for sale at about half of what I sold it for. I have no interest in the deal other than to help out the lady who's stuck with it. I owned her for 20 years and maintained it very well. Pm me if you want contact info.

Hi, did you happen to see my post in Boats wanted and for sale “Classic 1971 36C Kathy L” she may
fit your needs? My wife Kathy and I, just the two of us, have done a lot of cruising with her the
the last 44 years. From 1981 to 1995 in New England, Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket
and Long Island(New York). Then in ‘95 we took her to South Florida from Block, open water to Norfolk
then to Stuart Florida via the Intracoastal Waterway (1300 miles). In 1999 we moved to S. Florida an have done
extensive cruising in the Bahamas, Florida Keys, across to the West coast of Florida as well as East
coast of Florida. If you would like more info that not in the post, send me a Personal Message with
your email. Sorry this got so long!

Kathy L,
John

OP, no horse in this race but I will point out that Kathy L looks done correctly, has the best power package, and looks well loved. Also the flybridge is removable for transport over the road.
