Imron Removal

On our boat the previous owner painted some of the teak trim with imron. Is there a safe way to remove this without sanding? Some sort of striper would be prefered.

Interstrip should remove it. Test in a small area first.

I've shot a lot of Imron on cars, motorcycles, and (small) boats. Imron laughs at any of the commonly used strippers which are designed for 1-part paints, not 2-parters like Imron. I have never used Interstrip; it may work fine. Aircraft type strippers will remove it (with difficulty) but my concern is that any stripper "strong" enough to dissolve Imron will also dissolve gelcoat. Since you are removing it from wood, you don't have that problem but, as Gen says, be careful.

Frankly, I think I'd sand it. Stripping usually ends up being a lot more work than originally expected. Sanding is much safer for the rest of the boat as well!

I may try to sand it, I was just thinking some of the areas that are painted would be much easier to strip. Thanks.
