Hatteras Model
28' SPORT FISHERMAN (1965 - 1966)
...... I'm making progress. I found some of the fasteners securing the flybridge to the cabin top of my 28' SF. The side and inside fasteners were fiberglassed and bondo-ed for a clean look. I found them by using a wire wheel on 4" grinder. I have not been able to find the front fasteners. Question - Is there some way to locate stainless steel screws under bondo and fiberglass without grinding through to the cabin ceiling? Thanks all. Great forum. Let's work to keep it great. Hey Howie!! The uniflite FB on my roamer is fastened on the sides only. I guess they made it for the front and back to "float". That also gives a nice clean leading edge. If in doubt, start lifting and blocking with 2x4s and when you encounter another screw work it baby!! Sell those 504s yet?? ws

Did you ever call the folks at Hatteras? Somebody there is bound to be able to help you better than we can.

Yeah, that's it! Guess I'm slow and forgetfull, 'cause I think the "call Hatteras" idea was brought up in my earlier post. Thanks for the reminder! No word from Mark on the 504's. I am ready to make someone a heck of a deal! Thanks for the responses! Your tug saga was a fun read, Bill! Howard, on Michigan's west and best coast.

The same had been done on Misty. The yard that dis-assembled her very carefully ran a saws-all along the seam from the inside and cut the bridge free. It wasn't perfect, but good enough that I didn't feel compelled to immediately re-glass and fair it.
