Hull colors on motor yachts

I think the dark red YF looks awesome! However, like someone else pointed out, I wouldn't want that on my boat in a tropical climate. On my last boat that I kept in Atlanta, it had that dark red color with a light colored stripe under the rubrail. When I put my hand on the dark colored part of the hull from the inside, it was HOT. In contrast, the light colored strip was not. Based upon what I could feel through the hull on my former boat, I have to imagine that the dark colored hulls make the AC systems work that much harder in hot climates. I kept that boat under cover, but in the summer when I was out and about in it, the AC could not keep up whatsoever until night came.

taupe? who comes up with these names? Been in to pick out wall paint lately? there are like 13 million shades of white. All with some cutesy name.

The only reason I know what that is, is because the Admiral keeps picking out colors for things related to the house and she kept saying "taupe." After a dozen or so "WTF is taupe?"s it started to sink in.

Real men can only identify about a dozen colors anyway, and they all have names like Red, Blue, Green, Black etc. If it's not one of those we start using combinations like green-blue. The only other non-standard color I can identify is chartruse and that's only because they make chartruse fishing lures. Otherwise I'd just call it yellow-green.

We know Hatteras off white and fighting lady yellow and bilgecote grey too!

Sure... White, Yellow and Gray. Nothing about that is going to make you start liking show tunes.

Since I have to find a Doc with a Farnsworth lantern every 5 years I try to stick with primary colors.

What about Detroit Diesel green, even thought most are now white?

Crayola started the mess with a box that had a sharpner in the back.

But when you mixed the shavings up what color did you get?

I hear Viagra makes that test a bit harder. Is that true?

You guys are a lot more inventive and humorous in the winter. LOL

What is this winter you speak of?

It's going to be 75 this weekend and I will be "yachting".
