Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
The exhaust fan for the genny on the star side has popped off the side of the hull. Looks like the glue gave way. Any opinions as to what adhesive would keep it back on there (see pic). It appears that no physical fasteners were used originally. I'm thinking that 5200 might do the trick but it will be carrying the weight of the fan unit itself. I thought I'd detach the wooden mounting plate from the fan, 5200 that to the hull and clamp the hell out it till dry then stick the fan back on.

Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help/opinions

Mine is screwed to the hullside. I don't know if there is any glue involved in addition to the screws, but can't hurt.

Screws beat clamps every time....

I agree with using screw fasteners....plus a thickened epoxy between the wood and hull will make it a permanent "never to be repeated fix". Clean both surfaces first, maybe sandpaper then wipe/wash with acetone..

it should have be glassed to the hull. put some 5200 and a few screws (that do not go thru the hull) and it should be fine.
