Years ago I had a 43 Matthews MY, with Detroits- I think they were 6-53s. A slow boat, and I ran it slowly. Fuel was .65/gallon- I used to have the fuel truck come to the dock and just dump the tanks full. This was in the 80s- I could have gone fast, but didn't have the boat for it. Next boat was a Striker- only had 6-71 naturals, I was willing to go fast, but the boat wasn't, not even after I had them rebuilt. Fuel was 1.20 or so by then.
Now I finally have a boat that WILL go fast, or faster, at any rate. And fuel is 3.80 or whatever it is. I guess it doesn't matter, since I am spending all my boating time painting her. That way, when I finally get done, fuel will cost even more. Seems like I am in a pattern, and not a good one
