I've been in agony to sail my catamaran, a Hobie 16, after work until the sun sets. Pascal's marina will not allow me to keep it tied behind the stern, but they'll allow dinghies...go figure! To put it in a slip, I'd have to pay $75.00 per day! So, he's devising a plan to keep his dinghy in the water and lift the cat onto the dinghy's cradle onto the boat deck using his crane. The Hobie 16's beam is 7'.11", length is 16'9", her mast is 26' tall, and it weighs about 360 pounds. If you have any ideas on how to accomplish this, I would appreciate it!

How about sinking a mooring out in the field out front and dingy out to it?

hobies are not designed to stay in water... teh chop woudl put some wear on the mast step and the rigging, and the hull will blister very quickly. we've kept it in the water for a week at a time behind the boat (before the marina started rule enforcing) and it got some blisters...

Make some slings to use with the davit?

Lay some boards across the cradle and set it down?

Buy a bigger boat.

Another reason sailboats are not worth the hassle.... ;}
