  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' TRIPLE CABIN (1970 - 1976)
Okay, sometimes a man just has to do what a man has to do. I packed my bags and ran away from home, but home kept following me. I tried a few other forums, but it was if I were cheating on friends and family. I'm the faithful type, so I decided that maybe I would try this again. :o I'm a Hatteras guy you know, and I'm learning more every day and would like to share that with fellow owners and would-be owners.

For the record, nobody asked me to leave, I think we all just needed a little break. I just want to thank all those who have shown me friendship on this forum through honorable mention, PM's, and e-mails. It has meant more than I can tell you on this thread.

Guys and gals, I really would like to play nice and I don't want to make my comeback one of controversy. May I just simply suggest that anyone who longs for the good old days stay on the tech side and you will in fact have exactly that. I said it before and I'll say it again, although I recognize the significant value of technical information, I will not utilize that section as my peace offering. I will do my best not to cause any problems for anyone on the Sandbar, but I never meant to do that before. Maybe this time things can be better. I for one can really use better right now.

Thanks! :)

Good to see you on the forum brother. maybe see you at the bird boat this weekend.

I watched those old-timers/regulars on the Passagemaker Forum giving you a hard time last week. I guess those stubborn Hatteras Forum members aren't so bad after all? ;) LOL

I am glad you're back RR. You have a "Mini Me" or two running around here trying hard to keep things interesting on the sandbar by following in your footsteps while you were away. The sandbar has done quite well, I must say. Lots of fun chat and good-natured ribbing as well that you will certainly appreciate. No matter what, it sure is nice to have the real thing back!

I hope all is well, or getting better on the home front.

How was the Miami show? Did any of the parties beat the costume contest at FLIBS?

Oops! I forgot that there is an old Miami Boat Show thread that you are now posting to. I'll hop over there and check it out.

I have been down in the French Quarter doing the Mardi Gras thing since Friday. My head is just starting to clear. I guess it's the alcohol poisoning!

Hey Bird!

I guess you saw that we left the light on for you!

Welcome home!

Nick

Welcome back. :D
It's been too quiet here.........

Welcome back Randy..... :D

Looks like it is going to be another pretty day here in Naples. I'm now sitting "abored" the infamous and available GuzCruzer ready to make my way north to old Freebird. I haven't visited her since before Christmas, but that lovin' feeling I used to get on that boat seems to be gone. If it doesn't come back this week, I think I'll put her out of my misery. Besides, I need a bigger boat anyway, someday.

I am sitting here proving an earlier point that even a big unbroken Hatteras is no fun if you are by yourself. But then again, Carl always hides the keys from me or I may just be smiling right now!

BTW Paul, Al (who kept me up last week in more ways than one), and I took the mighty "101" out for a little spin yesterday. Not only did I drive the boat, I docked it while Paul shook uncontrolably with a dockline in one hand and a Bible in the other. His boat has now been declared "bird-proof" and it too is for sale.

Wait a minute, Houston (or maybe New Bern), we may have a problem. I just realized how many forum members I have met in person only to list their Hatt for sale afterwards. Maybe I should stay at a Holiday Inn Express tonight!

Haaaa, the Guru is back !

Guess that one day in rehab was enuff for you, as long as you haven't shaved your head and gotten a few tattoooos on your wrist (or anyplace else).

Oh, am always getting you and Brittney Spears mixed up......

"Oops I did it again, my sales were so dead that I shaved my head"! You grow girl!

No tatoos unless you count that boot mark on my butt! I must say I was sporting the Don Johnson / Tony Stewart look in Miami this week. Seems I have misplaced the power cord to my rechargeable razor. I think there is another one on Freebird. If not, I may have to "borrow" one from Wal-Mart.

Run and hide (again) Bubba cause I'm headed north in the next couple of daze!

I should have figured you for a lurker on other sites! I had honestly never looked at other forums until I left this one. Those boys have some serious personality disorders over there on that PassageMaker thing not to mention some pretty wierd ideas where single engine boats are concerned. Trust me, I have run on one engine all I ever care to! I suppose I became a marked man when I simply stated there could be no argument as to the inherent safety of twins. Rut row, wrong place to make that statement!

I was never personally insulted on this forum (well, then again... never mind) like I was over there, but once they flung down the gauntlet, we had us a little chestnut roasting, Freebird style! Hell, I got one ole' boys PIAW just by posting a thread like I did on here about hooking up at the Miami show. Want a good laugh, look at PassageMaker.com and find that one!

The Miami Show was okay, but it paled in comparison to FLIBS if for no other reason than it was spread over too large an area. The highlite of the show for me, as always, was hanging out with friends and meeting more. Al and Bobbie (my new extended dysfunctional family!) kept me at their house except for that night I slept ..., uh, spent the night with Angela on "Sanktuary" along with Ed. That was the only party I went to but it was a good time.

Carl called me yesterday and said there were some members on an LRC in Naples who wanted to get together. I came over here a little early with that in mind, and we had started in their direction when they called and cancelled ten minutes after telling us to come. Oh well, at least they called before we got all the way up to where they were. Thanks guys, it was almost nice almost meeting you!

Oh yeah, I'm glad you sold your 41. Now I am back to being the only member (I think) who has both a 41 and a 58! Then again, that could be like taking pride in the fact you have two targets painted on your back!

You mean from me or about me?

Oh yeah, I'm really sorry about what I did on your boat a couple of weeks ago. :o

You mean from me or about me?

. Well a lot of us used you to threaten other members that we would send the Bird after them :D
Guess we can't do that anymore.
Welcome Back my Redneck Buddy

Hey, threaten all you want, I'm really lonely these days and need little excuse to hit the road or the airways. Remember, 'birds fly north when the weather warms up!

Where are you going up north when things warm up? Glad your back Randy.

HOT DAMN THE 'BIRD'S' BACK!!!!!!!!

The forum will truly come to life again. That means I'll never get anything done. I'll spend too much time checking out the RANDY RANTS.

Welcome back Randy. Ther's still some Goose on the Wild Bill when you get to town. :D

Howddddy, and welcome back. You know you loose the love when you do not get to drive the boat. All work and no play makes a Hatteras a PITA.

LL wrote you a song..... :D

Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin
Wreckin shop, when I drop these lyrics that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price
