  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
60' MOTOR YACHT (1987 - 1989)
Three days of 6+ hours of running and I’ve now verified my starboard engine Hobbs is running fast. I religiously copy down hours run after each calendar day’s run so I’m sure it’s fast. Anybody else have this problem or the solution?

IMO, hour meters are bomb proof.
On a Hatt, they run when fuel pressure turns them on.
That fuel pressure switch sits up in a position that begs to be smashed by somebody's knee.
Please check that Hobbs switch on the secondary fuel filter. Are those leads smashed together?
Next pull the fuse and note if the hour meter keeps running.

I had this happen also. Very confusing. Finally figured it out. This may be applicable to my configuration only. YMMV. I had on/off switches installed on my 60 amp 32v alternators. This way I could switch them off if needed to avoid overcharging the batteries. I discovered that if one alternator switch was off, that engine's Hobbs ran slow. The engine whose alternator switch was left on ran fast. Do you have electric Hobbs?

Not sure on either comment but I will check today. We have another 10 hour run today so do a little research on it. Thank you.

Did the hour meter increment during the (last) night?
