Finally back on the forum after an extended absence. It's good to be back.

The "source one" hertz meter on BUFFALO GAL has stopped working. This is the meter that registers for both source one shore power and generator power. The "source two" hertz meter works fine, but of course does not register for generator power. I have checked the wiring and determined that there is power going to the meter, it just isn't registering anything.

Does anyone know if these hertz meters can be rebuilt? I've checked with Sams for a replacement, but neither of the meters they have matches what's in BUFFALO GAL.

If you have multi meter measures frequency test the available signal. If you don't have one try swapping the meters in the panel.

Do they have one that will fit in the hole at sams?

Just put in the new one and move on. Worrying about originality and thinking it will add value is wrong. I'd replace both with new and be done. It's called an upgrade.

One of the best things I ever purchased for my boat is a pair of Blue Sea 8247 AC Digital Multi-Function Meters. One for each of the 2 incoming power cords/generator feeds. I highly recommend them as a retro fit upgrade. They show cycles, volts, amps and kilowatts.

What Eric said! +

Our oem frequency meter is working fine but if it quit, I'd replace it in a heartbeat per Eric's recommendation. I've seen those meters on his boat and they're great.

Thanks to all for the advice. The multi meter says there is power going to the hertz meter, so the meter must be bad. I will definitely check out the Blue Sea units.
