Can anyone help me out with this (See photo above). There is a flange (or bracket) that slides along the vertical pole on the bow pulpit. It connects to the teak handrail to secure the rail to the pulpit. I noticed that there is a hole where some sort of bolt or fastener goes in. At first I thought it was a set screw, but now I'm thinking something else. The screw thread size in the pulpit stanchion looks like #12, but the hole in the bracket is larger than 1/4". So if I put a #12 in there, there will be too much play. Does anyone know if there is some special bolt/screw, etc that is used for this? Maybe a flexible spacer? I know this is trivial, but I'd like to put it back together correctly so that it's secure, yet won't cause stress cracks on the wood.
