Help painting the hull mistake? Hubby might kill me that I'm taking on too much!

I've been following this thread from the beginning. Your Husband must be taking awfully good care of you. You are one in a million wife! God Bless you!

I think you did a great job! Congrats!! My Wife does not do " manual labor"

I hope now that the hubby isn't going to kill you, he takes you out for a most fabulous night or two or three on the town.

One comment regarding the beautiful finish on the swim platform. Don't step on that when it is wet unless you are holding on to something. The coefficient of friction is nearly zero and you will end up in the water. Ask me how I know this bit of trivia.

What did you use to mask off for the boot stripe? And did you paint the boot stripe with one or two part paint?

Awesome job on the paint. You don't make housecalls to Detroit, do you?

The first photo you can see the calking next to the stainless steel before and after

Looks amazing!

Painting the fly bridge is on my list this summer. We're just south of you in Seattle if you're bored...

Yes I will be treated to a few dinners out, actually I'm heading to a nice week in Cabo for relaxing with my sister/ mom and dad so that is more than one could ask for I'm grateful for our boat I love love it.
Hum maybe I have a new career as a traveling boat toolmom lady.
I just used the blue tape from the boat store it's actually better than the frog tape and made sure I pressed hard on the seem by the paint line and didn't use too much paint. A tip the boat yard guys taught me was they use baby powder on the line just painted recently then tape it I guess the tape doesn't peel off the paint although I have not tried this method. Just a interlux one part paint.

Hmm how much is yard labor in Seattle an hour I'll charge 1/2 and maybe bunk out in your boat.

They're all over the board in Seattle from $75 to $125/hr it seems. I'm due for bottom paint but need to strip it down and start new. Too many layers of old paint at this point. I have quotes from $8k - $12k to strip and repaint. Sure makes it appealing to do it myself if I could afford the time.

Do the math.

Bottom painting on a clean prepped hull is about $40-$45/foot.

Sand blasting the old paint off can take a few days or so at $100/hour

Patching, grinding blisters and resurfacing depending on how bad it is $2-3000.

Barrier coat $50/foot.

All the poisons from the paint and chemical on you, your clothes ... Priceless.

You're not wrong Scott, there is value in having a yard do the work especially for the health reasons. That and I have enough projects that I would enjoy more than bottom paint. But there is something to be said about doing it yourself too. Pick your battles...

Yea sandblast and stripping sounds time summing. Mine was not that needed, plus I'm really sore and tired! But remember the Canadian dollar Is worth more today I have met several people that have gone to Canada to have it done.
