  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
I mentioned this in the South Seas thread. South Seas is a good option due to docking arrangement, golf cart availability, and could they use the business. I had later dates but wife changed my mind (😂😂😂) to Labor Day weekend. They are only $2 a foot now due to the situation. We will also be spending a night or 2 on the hook at Pelican Bay, a deep water anchorage at Cayo Costa state park. Great little beach to hit with the dink. If anyone is interested let me know. They plan on running Marina specials while they rebuild and who knows what a group might get offered, although at 2 bucks can’t see it much lower.

We'd definitely be interested. Please keep the information coming on this event. Boat is in Punta Gorda now, so short trip to Cayo Costa & SSR.

Jim
M/Y Katerina.

Got a friend with a 48 SF that plans on going. I’ll call the marina Monday about getting on the same pier.

Miss Maggie would be interested as well....

Nice. Anybody and everybody is welcome. Will be cool to meet up with other Hatteras owners. From large to smaller these are all really special legendary boats. We can trade stories on the dock. We are planning Saturday and Sunday night at South Seas. Friday we plan to spend on the hook at Pelican Bay anchorage. And a few other stops down and back up.

I talked to South Seas today and was given the Harbormasters email. Told it was no problem to get all on the same pier or 2. Emailing tonight. Tell them you are with the Hatteras get together to be in the same area. Our boat, Esperanza (formerly owned by Capt Dave Disesia) will be open door for visits, snacks, and libations. I'll be honest, I miss the dock parties at marinas up north from so long ago.

So it is set up. Just make reservations as needed. Looking forward to a nice tropical weekend (without tropical storms!)

Heard from Harbor master today. Just mention the get together and we will be grouped together. Made my reservations today. Let’s have some fun.

Looks like a super nice place.

For Miss Maggie, would need to get on that first dock to starboard as you enter the harbor.

At 18'2" beam and 6' draft, it will be a bit of tight quarters inside. The approach and mean low tide at the dock is 6' exactly unless they've dredged it after Ian.

Will confirm with the admiral tonight and give dock master call tomorrow.

Check with them on depths. I believe the whole marina is deep but if a certain dock is where you need to be let them know and we can all go same area. Email for harbor master is cmartz@southseas.com.

I've been in there and 6' is stretching it for the most part. Very tight maneuvering in there, but we did it. We were starboard tied on the furtherest dock in. Had a 65' Outer Reef (from our YC) also in there on the other side of the dock we were on. He too was kicking up mud and had to clean his AC strainers once tied up.

Nice place, but any of us with deeper draft need to plan for the tides.

Please confirm the dates for Pelican Bay and SSR.

Thanks

We are reserved for arriving Saturday and leaving Monday Labor Day weekend at south seas. Weather permitting plan is to arrive at Pelican bay Friday by noon to get a good day there. We are also stopping at Seafood Shack in Bradenton on the way down.

Just reserved at SSP for same dates and looking forward to meeting some local Hat owners. I will call a few other owners in the area that might want to join up.

Getting closer. Anyone else up for this? I’m gonna throw down some good snacks. I invite you guys to kill my budget!😁😁😁

Looking forward to this.

I have invited two buddies that may come along. One, from Cape Coral has a 61 MY, the other from Ft. Myers is on a 58LRC. Both are interested, but neither are on SAM's. I'll let you know if they will be there as soon as they confirm.

Just made our reservation. We are doing it slightly differently, plan to arrive Wednesday 8/30 late afternoon and depart Sunday 9/3.

For us, it's about a 85 nm run on the outside from Riviera Dunes. So realistically about a 10-hour day.

Talked to the Dock Master, Charles. He said that the first dock to starboard as you enter the harbor has the skinniest water with that dock having 5 ft MLW. There will also be a full moon on 8/30 so tides will be running accordingly. He's suggesting at least the next dock over for those of us with larger drafts.

I "might" change it up and stop over at the Crow's Nest in Venice on 8/30 which is about a 6-hour run for me.

Regardless, looking forward to meeting up with some SWFL Hatteras owners and particularly interested in meeting some LRC owners!

Miss Maggie can host a cocktail hour one evening!

Awesome. That's (2) maybe (3) 58LRC's.

Will be a fun time!!

Looking at the tide chart for Captiva, I will likely change it up and arrive Thursday 8/31 as the full moon low tide is at 6:54 PM on 8/30. If I leave my dock by 9AM on 8/30, that puts me getting in at almost dead low tide on a full moon.

High Tide on Thursday 8/31 is at 12:30 PM and is ~3.3 feet above MLW which should be enough water with some margin.

You guys can provide shade for the rest of us! It would be quite a sight. I saw the JD's boat in Palmetto the they look like small ships. Talk about a brick $hithouse.

How about a couple more sporty's and MY's?

I emailed and got the following response from Harbor Master on what to expect.

Hello Mike,

Sorry for the delayed response as I was out of the office Sunday and Monday.

The dockage rate is $2.00 per foot plus electric per night. IF there is to be a pool ready it would be the pool with the water slides. The other 2 pools overlooking the Bay will not be ready. The pool with the water slides has many inspections and rules it must follow to open, and we can not commit to it being ready by 9/1. The resort understands 100% that a pool is very critical, and they are doing as much as they can to make it happen as they work with health inspectors.

As of today 8/8 ~ What is open
Marina w/ fuel, ice, new bbq grills, restrooms (no showers) & lawn games
Beach set up at sun set beach, chairs, umbrellas, taco food truck (11am-5pm) & restrooms
Starbucks Coffee Shop 7am - 230pm
Sandwich food truck in same plaza as Starbucks (11am - 5pm)
Are a limited number of homes and units for rent
As if today 8/8 ~ What is not open
No transportation (trolley)
No restaurants on property including Doc Fords
No pool complex

We suggest bringing bicycles or renting golf carts from YOLO 239-472-9656 to get into the small town of Captiva for additional food options.

Let me know if you have any questions.
