  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' MOTOR YACHT-Series II (1990 - 1995)
Not sure when this was rolled out, but the Hatteras website has been updated and has a lot more information. They have lots of 360 views on all the models -- including the 100 RPH, which sadly didn't steal the show. The photos weren't as polished as the other models and as mentioned before, was surprised to see the tender on the swim platform. There was even a loose teak table set on the bat deck with chairs spread haphazardly. I would expect all built-in seating for $10mil (yes, they even have prices for the 100). The "about us" section has a lot of nice details about the construction process too. No new models yet, but a much improved display overall.

One of the new style 80MYs came down the river the other day from the plant. Reminded me a little of the 63/64MYs we all hated. Not quite that bad, and exterior lines aren't everything by a long shot, but still disappointing.

I wish them well. I have to admit these aren't to my taste, either, but I am not their target market. I'm the right age, but nowhere near their price bracket. I suspect the cheapest yacht they build is now four million dollars, perhaps a lot more.

I'm not their buyer either and will never be.

It will be interesting to see what David Marlow does with Mainship. The Marlow Explorers compete with Flemings and I've read he's trying to take Mainship up a notch in quality. Maybe he'll bring out a lower priced version of the 53 Explorer that more folks can afford. (<<1 million) How about a new 43 motor yacht?

Given the depreciation that we commonly see, it's hard for me to imagine how much money I'd have to make to buy a new boat for several million dollars. I'm glad for their sake that people can do it, but it ain't me. And won't be.
