Hatteras Repair Challenge

Experiencing difficulty over the past year of having reliable marine service companies showing up and completing work on my 1985 Hatteras ED. Asked around the Marina and heard a few comments that some techs don’t like to work on older Hatteras boats. We are located in the Florida Panhandle and this may be a local challenge. I am to the point of moving the boat based on where I can get maintenance done on the boat. Anyone else have this issue?

I ve heard various techs no wanting to work on Azimuts and Italian boats but never rejection work on a hatt! I hat kind of work? Maybe specific to some older system like variable speed Cruisair compressors or outdated autopilots?

Most yard guys here love working on these boats because of the ease of access and well laid out systems. It must be a local thing. They must only know about runabouts and outboards.

It's the opposite for me. Everybody who works on mine always talks about how nice it is to work on compared to most boats because of the stand-up engine rooms plus the mechanical spaces are all inside the air-conditioned areas of the boat. That is a big deal in a Florida summer. I don't think that dude has a clue what he's talking about.

We have a father/son vendor here in Ft Myers, I'd put them up against anyone. And I know they'll work on Hats, the father owns one. Fleet Repair and Marine.
