Chris ... I totally agree ... let's get multiple designs ... I'm sure that Steve could help with the logo approvals. I'd really like to see the other Hatteras logos designed too.

I am in. jaxfish mentioned a combined sam/hatt burgee. I am not good with graphics, i cant even draw inside the lines.We could use a generic font if we cant get permission.

This is a great idea--I'm in. Some online resources, such as a Google
map (private) which shows owners nearby would be nice, as well. But
anything would be cool.

One caveat about the name. "Hatters Owners Yacht Club" seems to
be available, but Hatteras Yachts links out to a commercial site
at http://www.marinalife.com/index.cfm?cbid=119 for "Hatteras Yachts
Owners Club". There is no real benefit to Hatteras, so we may convince
them we are the real article, but it is not critical. Other various forums
claim "Hatteras Owners" at http://www.boatowner.org/hatteras/Index.html
but no real duplication of the suggested name that I have found, FYI.

I've given this some thought and I have some ideas about how the club might be able to proceed and some of the very real benefits it could offer to Hatteras owners ... I need to talk to the folks at Hatteras first because they do already have the Owners Club arrangement with MarinaLife.

Once the club is established, it could lead to other things - perhaps some kind of discounts on insurance, but Sam's would not be in a position right now to get into the insurance deal.

I'll get back with everyone after I have the conversation with the Hatteras folks which will hopefully be today. Then, I'll throw out some ideas and see what everyone thinks.

I just spoke with the appropriate folks at Hatteras and shared some of my ideas for our club. They were very well received. There will be further discussion at Hatteras in the upcoming week on the subject. I want to make sure we have Hatteras' endorsement which may also translate into some additional benefits to club membership.

We could have our annual get togethers at FLIBS. Old Randy was trying to turn us into a club, he was the good will "Ambassador" LOL and visited many members. Heck we just need a national burgee and elect some officers. We already have "Chapters" scattered all over the world. Doug has the list of members, we could literally have a couple thousand members overnight.
