These two are friends of ours.... They are doing the Great Loop 'the right way' slowly.
Had dinner with them last night as the boat is in inside storage up north awaiting their next part of the trip in the spring...

I thought you were supposed to do the south in the winter and north in the summer? I bet they will still be cold up there this spring.

Same here Great read and great pictures! We would like to know about wintering the boat up north. We are planning on doing the trip the same way. Splitting the trip into two years.

They are planning on two years.... But if it takes longer, no big deal as they have zero plans on rushing it. Will be getting with them this Friday for pizza again.

I read the blog. Is seems that they appear to be mechanically challenged and depend on "boat mechanics" for their repairs. To keep any boat running and not end up frustrated and pissed off you need have an intimate knowledge of every mechanical and electrical system on the boat. Even a fat wallet doesn't help because half or better of these waterborne mo-canics will hand you a big bill and not fix the problem in the first place.
