Hatteras 53MY Draft

I am looking to purchase a 53MY and trying to find out what the draft is.

One 53 I am looking at has a plaque on the boat that states 4'11" draft.
I have seen listings show 4.5 feet, as well as 4 feet.

Anyone have any input?

The 1973 article found under "Model Brochures" above says 4'
but I think through the years the weights might have changed.
You might want to ask regarding what year you are looking at?

I would think the plaque would be correct, but don't know if that is fully loaded with fuel or how they would rate that. I would "assume" fully loaded. But again I'm pretty new to this

It's pretty substantial. He's 5'11" and the propellers hang down another foot or so beyond that point. I have a later boat than that, 1980's 53 MY, I know it carries more fuel. The specs say 3.5 feet or something and I can affirmatively say that's a lie. It's closer to 5.

I measured mine at 4 feet 2 inches While weight may have changed a little depending on the years it won’t have much of an impact.

I´d expect to calculate with 4ft.4". So you need about 6ft. for cruising at idle.

I ve run at idle with half a foot under the wheels. Yeah better be sure of the depth . Above idle the boat will squat and draft will increase by almost a foot

If course it does. On the 53 s and their cousins the keel extend as low as the wheels

My wheels extend below the keel. Im guessing 4 inches.
I measure our depth meter at 4' 6". That is loaded for a trip and full of granite.
