Hatteras Model
43' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1978 - 1983)
I need to paint my gunwales and cockpit and would like to use a durable 2 part paint that would at least closely match the original color. Imron won't work, as I need to apply it with a brush. I've had good luck in the past with Interlux Perfection, but they don't offer that in Hatt Off white. The closest I see in their chart seems to be Oyster White, Cream, or Pearl White. Have any of you tried to match your boat with one of these? Or, do you have an alternate recommendation?

Years ago I mixed Oyster white with Sandtone. It did fade out near exact.

Imron can be roll and tipped. You also wet sand and polish to get smoother.

It does not lay out as well as awlgrip buy the finish product is comparable when done right.

Awgrip has several white tones, you might fine a good match. They make a brush on converter and reducer. I just looked on YouTube and see many "Tip and Roll" technique videos. I had my boat repainted 18 years ago and the Awlgrip has done well in the Florida sun.

The classic Original DuPont Imron paint # 508u, Algripe had a match .

Bob's boat is a 1979. That Imron number is incorrect.

What DuPont Imron number. Did Hatteras use in 1979 ?

667766u but both numbers are obsolete so its irrelevant anyway. The new Imron Elite number is 883769

We did some sections on a 52 CPMY a few years back. We used Oyster White in one area fwd and Cream in another aft. Both matched perfectly to the surrounding color. Go figure.

my 81 61 cy was 1/2 oyster white 1/2 cream Awlgrip …..Pat

Awlgrip “Hatteras Off-white 4208” matches my 87 52C with original Imron perfectly.

I thought 4208 was an Interlux number, not Awlgrip, but I could be wrong.

My 1976 58 LRC was reapainted using Awlgrip H8002 "Cream"Awlgrip color.webp
