Any of you eastern Long Island sound boaters ever come to the Harbor Fest in Sag Harbor? If you are looking for a cruising destination to stretch the the season a bit up here in the northeast I highly recommend the Harbor Fest. It takes place the weekend of September 14-16 and is a lot of fun . There is something for everyone and all within walking distance of the waterfront. PS: How was your trip home Dan? What time did you leave BI? We left at 3 pm and had some rough weather on the way home. Bruce

Bruce, thanks for the heads up! Sounds like a good time. Do you think there is any chance for a slip somewhere?

The following weekend I think is the maritime festival in Greenport. The last couple of years it has been somewhat disappointing, sort of a street vendors weekend. I will look into the schedule of activities for both fests.

I remember Steve, "Good Bait", talking about the Sag Harbor Fest last year. It sounded like a lot of fun!

We will be pulling into Greenport late (about 6-7pm) on the 21st for the Greenport Fest.

Anyone else going to any of these? You're right, Nick, not as good as some of the past ones, but still a good excuse to drink some Black and Tans on the street!

K

Gee I'd love to do something like that but would probably be a haul for me from Delaware.....

I know from experience that cars, trains and ferries are acceptable transportation to HOF get togethers.

Nick, try the Sag Harbor Yacht Club. The managers name is Lester Black and he is an old friend . Tell him I sent you . It might help. I know that last year when we were there it did not seem to be full to capacity. We will arrive on Friday afternoon/evening. The festival is a real good time. If you have trouble give me a call . You have my number. Best Regards, Bruce

Thanks Bruce!

I'll let you know if we can make it.

Nick

Well first off I left at 10 am because I knew it was only going to get worst I am sure you saw rough water at 3pm!!!! Our ride was fine slowed down to around 19 kts average made it back in 2 hrs and boat rode good at that speed.

I may come to Sag Harbor fest If I don't go offshore looking for another good weather window it get far in-between this time of year.
Nick you don't need a dock there is this big heavy thingy on the tip of your Bow called a anchor and I can show you how it works :-}}
I will anchor behind the bridge.
I plan on also making Greenports Seafest Wife just asked me last night who was coming and about Capt K. Wants to know if you all want to go to dinner one night. I guess that means she liked all you guys!!!

Dan, that heavy thing on the bow is great for you childless folk, but when you bring the kids along it is very nice to be able to have them get off the boat and entertain themselves at will. Good luck offshore ,as to the Greenport thing we do not have any plans yet. I'll talk to the admiral. PS; I am glad that we meet with Chris' approval. {sarcasm intended} Give her my best. Bruce

Sure is big and heavy!

Yes, we impressed Chris because she was expecting Dan to bring home more stray dogs and/or "Birds"!

Scott, cars, trains, ferries and "planes". Coming back to visit the newlyweds?

I think they expect you to be a stray something!!!
You Know how many people look at me funny and say you meet them on the Internent....
I know Bruce got that some kidding from his side also, I just say hey they own a Hatt they have to be Good People.. :-}

Same here! My wife still looks at me funny when I tell her wer are getting a bunch of us HOF folks together! Now that she met the group of us in July, she seems at little more at ease!

Yeah, guys , my wife could not believe that I made friends from a website. truth to tell, though she had reason to be skeptical , as I have never been the socialite in our family anyway. It was usually her that made the new friends. She was very surprised at the quality of the people we have met both through this site and in boating in general. We just finished a nearly three week cruise that left her amazed at all of the wonderful people we had met. Boating is the best... Bruce

So Bruce did you make it this weekend since I did not!!!!
Will see you next weekend !!!

Dan , yes we made it. It was a nice weekend. Sag Harbor is a nice town to visit on the boat and with the exception of the mini-gale that blew through on Saturday am the weather was lovely. It is always a pleasure to look at all the mega-yachts that berth at Sag. We will see you at Stirling this weekend. Bruce

I too caught Harborfest ... i was hanging out on the floating "tikibar" inside the breakwater. It was a good time. Good Bait hasn't gotten much use this year, but life in Fla. is pretty good. Bought a place in Lauderdale with 98' of bulkhead. We have a 27 Blackfin tied behind the house. I'm heading out of Port everglades this wekend and "drowning a few worms" .... wanna catch dinner. I do have dockspace available behind the house, so if you're coming south and need a slip ... let's talk. Need to defer some of the cost of that 98' waterfront.

Hey Steve, I was at "Good Bait" August 13 & 14. You were not there, but I spoke with Jeff's "admiral" on Stephanie.

I took some pics, tho. Sorry I missed you this year. Maybe we'll catch each other on Thanksgiving weekend if you're up.

K

Good luck in Florida!

So who owns the Tikibarge?

JohnGalt,

What time are you coming to Stirlng on Friday?

Nick,we expect to arrive at Stirling Harbor sometime around 4 pm. It all depends on the children, but not later than 5.The Tiki barge is owned by a friend of mine by the name of Sean. He built it for the annual party at Barcelona Point that he has every August. It plays host to the numerous bands that play at the party. The party has been going on for many years now and has grown to the point where in excess of 3/400 boats were present this past year. That does not even include kayaks, canoes, dinghys etc.Nor does it include the party goers that come by 4x4. It is a huge event here on the east end. Bruce

See you tomorrow night at Stirling!

I went to the Cedar Point concert this year and was anchored in our 18ft with a group of friends. It was a great afternoon!!!! Got right up close to the barge! My kids were amazed at how many boats and anything else that floats, were present for the day!

Paddled in a tube over to Steve (Bertramp) to say hello!!!
