Great Lakes water levels

I thought I had my sailboat sold to a guy in Canada on Lake Erie. He backed out because the marina at his town told him that, although they currently have barely enough depth for our 6.5' draft boat, the lakes are forecast to go quite a bit lower this summer. I looked it up on NOAA and was amased to find out that they are predicting much lower water levels this summer. The levels look like what we had 3 or more years ago. Not this again! Oh well, at least the aren't spilling lots of oil in the Great Lakes. Now, what about the Asian Carp? I can't win.

The lakes are down about 8- 12" from last year at this time and many are actually forecasting then to follow the annual trend from here. That means that you will see levels rise slightly through July and then decrease in the fall as usual. I wouldn't get to caught up in the NOAA predictions as the lakes almost always follow the historical trend. After all, NOAA is a government agency and I know how much you trust in government.

Our yard stick is only 0.9144000002824 meters long!

We've been right at about normal - 24" - 30" above LWD thus far. Maybe a little low, but nothing to concern about. I did dredge my slip this spring which will help. But the marina and channel still have some 3' LWD marks...
