Hi Pat,

Your thread is a good chance to mention to everyone that Chicago has dealt with one of the area's big problems for transient visitors - the lack of transient space. The 31st St Harbor will open this Spring. I think this harbor was proposed and started back in the days when confidence was running high that the city would host the 2016 Olympics. Of course we all know how that went, but Chicago's loss might be the transient visitor's gain as I strongly suspect that dockage is now overbuilt. Not saying that it's renter's paradise here, but at least you can be pretty sure of finding a slip.

The 31st Harbor looks top notch. Just a mile or 2 south of Burnham and all new. Here's a webcam for those interested.

Wow, that is a large marina. I still think Burnham would be better though. I like being able to walk to all of the museums.

Totally agree with your opinion, but I think they will manage to siphon off enough residents from the other marinas with favorable rates and the glitter of the new facilities so that ALL the marinas will now have transient space available. The days of the 5 year waiting list are history.

Ppat,
Pam and I are always willing to attend, depending on the location of the get-together. I believe I have solved my battery problems so we should be 'good to go'. I'm sorry to read the sub is outbound.

They may siphon off a large number of boats from Monroe if the breakwater is better than the constant roll at Monroe.

Sea Eric, yes...the Hatt trick is for sale. It breaks our heart but it is what it is and we will still be able to cruise the lakes.

Bear, we were kind of thinking of cruising more than staying in anyone place. I know we are heading up to Fayette and may even make Beaver Island again. If things work out we may even head to the North Channel. We heard about a party we can crash there...(hi Sky, Mark and the rest of the group)..LOL

I would maybe like to try for Mackinaw City and the straits but bigger boats then ours have had problems. We shall see. I started this because us northerners need something to think about in the winter to keep us going...ppat

Ppat,
Keep us apprised of your cruising plans.Pam and I could cruise or drive to meet you guys.

Bear,
We're missing seeing you guys and Strategic Plan this winter in the barn. Where are you storing?
