  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
We headed out Saturday in bumpy seas for Grand Cay. 5.5 hours later we checked in at Walkers and made our way to Rosies. Upon arrival we notice it is really hopping. Turns out it is Homecoming, oh and they lost my reservation. Rosie took care of us and had us a room in an hour. We decided to eat at Rosies for our first meal and I now know I really like turtle.

Sunday morning we made our way out a little late as I have never been out of that inlet. Second pack of birds we drop all 4 rods(woops). I get mine to the boat first and my wife whiffs the gaff shot and he goes bye-bye. We still have 3 on the lines and 1 is good sized. Tanners comes to the boat next but it is a little small so he gets released. The 3rd spit the lure. Now we can concentrate on the big one. Ginger got the fish most of the way to the boat I helped her with the last bit and finally sunk the gaff in a 40#er. On the 3rd pack the fish were starting to drop down but we were able to pick up 2 blackfin and lost a stud. Called it a day at noon as the seas started to pick up.

Day 2 we awake to 15-20 knot winds so we do the inshore thing in the slop. Tanner shot his first 2 grouper with a pole spear. We picked up some conch and snorkeled around the coral heads. Very cool snorkeling espc in 10-15' of water.

Day 3 the wind is still blowing and we explored the Island and drank beverages.

Day 4 We stick our noses out but the birds are few and far between. They seemed to be scanning but no surface action. We finally get a bite and it is the biggest so far. It dumps the 50 WLRSA to a quarter spool before we can get the other lines in. It broke the leader a short time later. With that much line in the water I guess I should have backed the drag off more. To top it off we are out of Crown(dang wind!)

Day 5 Weather report says this is your window and it is time to leave. We head out with dreams of birds to the corner and vast expanses of weed lines. Nope, neither! Just 3-4' short sets and whitecaps in the stream.

I need to work out some fishing bugs but wow what a great time. It is my new favorite place. :toast:

Now THAT is how to spend tax day. Great shots Todd, sounds like a good time for sure.
