  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
63' COCKPIT MY (1985 - 1987)
I’m heading into Gloucester, MA today and thought I’d top off. With all the commercial boats there I’m guessing it’s a good place to purchase fuel. Can anyone recommend a specific fuel dock?
Thanks.

Go to cape Ann marina 3.45 last week for 400 gallons. Rose marine fuel is a fixed barge and about same price but closed now Where you headed? How long you staying? If you’re asking Harbormaster for a mooring, get one off Niles beach Calmest in harbor. Cape Ann marina is inside Annisquam river. When you go through ‘the cut’ actually Blyman canal lift bridge, wood the throttles. Don’t play nice guy in there. Rip gets crazy lots of boats smash the fendering going too slow

Thanks for the Cape Ann recommendation, however no way I’m going through that bridge. I took the dink through there with a ripping current. Not worth the risk for me. We did get a mooring ball off Niles Beach and it’s awesome. Heading to New Bedford tomorrow. Hopefully will find fuel there.

It’s actually fine. Correct the current creates a rip that can push the boat but as previously stated, if you lay on the throttles to maintain control it’s entirely doable. Been through there many times and never hit the sides.

Sea Fuels in new Bedford as you are entering harbor about as deep as you can go left side of harbor. Go any further and you’ll be at the New Bedford/fairhaven swing bridge to go down Acushnet river. Website say 3.17 gallon today. Good thing you don’t want to go into annisquam. And another thing, seafuels is a huge fuel dock you’ll feel tiny at, cape Ann you’d need to warp your way out to get off the dock, really stupid arrangement. Niemic marine is right on popes island at the swing bridge. They are accustomed to working on large pleasure vessels, most all other shops are for fishing boats. Marty Niemic is a crotchety old F but he is fair and runs a really tight ship. Niemic has moorings inside the swing bridge and you can dingy tie up there too. Popes island is likely the safest area you could be at. Lots of heroin in New Bedford.

Probably know this but time your entering of the cape cod canal to coincide with a favorable tide/current. It gets going pretty good and a real waste of fuel going against it. Canal operations is very responsive.
