Gel batteries

Have used golf cart batteries with no problems for some years now
I am wondering whether it is worth going with gel or AGM golf cart batteries to save the laborious task of opening the galley hatch and creeping about with some discomfort
I have a Sentry charger with no switches for different battery types

Most AGM batteries share the same or very similar charge profiles with flooded batteries. Check with the MFG of the batteries and charger to ensure closest profiles.

Gel batteries require different charge profiles and a new charger may be required.
Sentry may have a hidden switch or mod available deep inside their charger. With a Gel brand in mind, give them a call.

Lose the sentry and youll be able to tailor the charge profile to your batteries. with a small amount of effort you can find a charge profile that will not dry out the batteries. Blue seas makes a highly configurable charger but 12 volt only. quality flooded batteries should last a decade minimum with proper care. go onto Rolls batteries website and look up their care recommendations. you be amazed what you dont know about caring for batteries.
