Another issue that arises with these pressure switches is that if they fail closed, it will destroy your alternator, the switch should ideally be wired through a solonoid so that the voltage to the alternator is switched through the secondary side of the solonoid, thus preventing any voltage transfer should the fuel pressure switch fail. I had that disaster on my 150 amp leice neville alternator, 250.00 later for the cure. If you need more info talk to your alternator shop for a wiring diag.

Just jumping in on the thread... I have 8V71N on my 1969 53MY. The switch you are referring to on mine energyizing either an alternator or generator.

Hello Mike,

On my 1968 44TC, I have replaced one of the two fuel pressure switches / sensors on the port engine's secondary filter. The engine was stalling as if no fuel. With the new switch / sensor, the engine runs well. Now, I have a question: What is this two wire, pressure switch for?

It is not the same as the one found on both port and starbourd secondary fuel filters, connected to respective generator relays. The one in question is mounted on the port secondary filter, on a tee connection. It is wired to a relay that appears to have several prong connectors, like a pre-transistor, electronic tube. That is mounted near the battery charger and A/C devices.
