I am attempting to verify the fuel capacity of my 1972 43' DCFB, running 6-71N's, so is Diesel.
The Hatteras original Owners Manual, Fuel and Water Section, Pg1, Para1, quotes "two fiberglas tanks with a capacity of of 200 gals each." This is interesting, as I always assumed they were 370 gals total at 185 gals/tank. This because my fuel gauge rod is scribed in 1" intervals, of 18 intervals. One interval of 1" in length, seems to always be slightly over 10 gals per interval on the rod. So 18 intervals @ 10gals/interval= 185 gals or so. I hope I have been wrong all this time and really do have 200 gals a side tanks, each under an aft bunk.
Does anyone have any comments on my fuel capacity or am I safe to go with the Owners Manual. Seems safe to me, but "trust but verify", as someone said!
