Ft Lauderdale. From abaco via berrys and bimini

We are in Marsh Harbour and it’s getting time to get back to FL in the next week or so. We’ve always crossed from abaco via west end to Stuart. Since we are heading to Lauderdale we are heading around the south end of Abaco. I’ve been advised to do Chubb then Bimini Bi Game. I dont have to
spend max to feel validated. Avoiding cruise ships and their issue is important. What do the FL captains recommend?

Conditions over the next 5 to 7 days look very good but no matter what you re always going more swells running around the south tip of abacos. Inuits don’t see the point, it s much more relaxed to run to west end and the ln across the stream.

If going to FTL, Chub and Bimini are a detour to the south, and it s not like they are great stops anyway. If you really want to got around the south side of abaco consider a stop in Great Harbor Cay instead, worth spending a couple of nights and a full day exploring. Chub has nothing to offer but a somewhat expensive marina which although beautiful doesn’t exactly have a staff that understand the word service.

Bimini will be a disappointment after the abacos. Not worth the detour. Spend an extra day at Great Harbor instead. The beaches on the ocean side are beautiful unlike Bimini which have been destroyed by Reaosrt World

If you do go to Chub, book your slip on line as it is significantly cheaper than by phone or upon arrival.

I ve stopped at Chub a few times for customs on the way to the Exumas but everything takes for ever. Even checking in takes half an hour then another half hour to get a ride to customs at the airport.

PS. What cruise ship issues ? Beside them disgorging cattle wherever they go, incl Bimini

Pascal, this is exactly the guidance I was looking for and thanks! We have a slip up the New River and we therefore need to arrive into Ft Lauderdale before noon to get through the bridges before evening restrictions. Bimini was just a staging point. Rethinking and will discuss with crew. May have a few more questions. May I pm?
