what about hydrofoils lol they were the big buzz in the 70's right (aka way before my time).

There is always the trifoiler sailing hydrofoil!

Do a goggle search for trifoiler.

Otherwise fuel consumption is staggering on the hydrofoils.

I don't like steps on boats generally, hard to lift, trailer, subject to odd stress cracks, and squirrely when the waves are at the wrong angle and catching the steps offside. Many, many, many offshore racing boats with steps have spun out in turns, and slide around like a greased cat in normal conditions. Still, people buy them to get the extra speed and better fuel consumption.

I was thinking about making lots of holes in my jon boat and hooking up a leaf blower to see if I could go faster hahaha oh wait, I do'nt need to make any holes, it has enough in it already.

the speed merchant 67 was the second speed merchant built, the 61 is the original, speed merchant 61 is cold molded, with a composite carbon kevlar over wood, the real speed merchant is dick moroso's, i know of the 67 but i think its someone elses, how fast is the 67?
