I accidentally posted this in Parts for Sale - so here goes again.

While thumbing through my May 2014 issue of Soundings I was surprised to see a 30+ year old photo of me and my steam launch (page 45). It was from an article I all but forgot about that Soundings did on the boat in the late '70s. I still have the engine and some boiler fittings from that boat in the attic.

Wow, thats way too cool. Some of us are reading about history and you are making history. I bet you have forgotten more about boats than I will ever know. My Hatts a tipping sir.

Do you have plans for the engine? It'd be fun to put back in service.....I'm a "steam head"

I've had plans, but no time, to put the engine in another launch since that photo as taken. It's a 2 cylinder double-acting engine built by a guy (Mr McElhinney I think) that used to maintain the steam railway on Egmont Key (St Petersburg, FL).

The same issue of Soundings in which my steam launch photo appeared contains an article on the sinking of Bounty. I lived in St Petersburg, FL during the '70s when I had the launch. Bounty's home port then was the St Pete Pier. One of the few times I ever say her leave the dock back then was to sail over to Tampa for Gasparilla. Seeing the article reminded me that one year (on a very calm day) I ran the launch out into Tampa bay about a half mile and fell in with Bounty as she returned to St Pete. Fun times!

The good people at Soundings found the Issue from which the photo came. It wasn't really an article, juts at sidebar.
