One of my Cummins B engines is running a bit warmer than the other. This is the engine which was recently damaged in a partial hydrolock, and repaired. The water temp here is about 84 F, but the other engine is running at normal temps. Does anyone know the procedure for flushing the heat exchanger with OsPho (or similar) on the seawater side of it? Looking at it, I'm wondering if just taking out the zincs would get me the access I need to cycle the OsPho through the seawater side. Thanks in advance for any help.

I always take mine out. That way I’m sure their clean but I tho they used barnacle buster

I've done this before- just flushing the seawater side- but I can't find the notes and drawings I made on doing it. Before the damage to the engine, she was running at normal temp. I don't think that she's warm because of the damage, which has all been replaced- I think the problem's in the HE or elsewhere in the cooling system. The thermostat is new. I'll take the HE out if I have to, but I'd rather try this first.

Make sure the fuel cooler is clean. First spot to collect any impeller pieces and raw water flow depends on those passages being clean.

Spoke with Cummins techs this morning. They recommend Barnacle Buster, 5gal bucket, recirc pump, routed into the fuel cooler and pickup of the used solution right before the water injection elbow to the showerhead. This cleans everything in the seawater path. I'm going to start getting everything together to do this.

Just did our CATs over the weekend.
Couple of things to remember, remove the zincs and install plugs. Also, if you have shaft seals remove the feed fitting and plug or something similar.
