Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
Have any of the Florida owners registered their Hatt as an antique to save the annual registration fees? What was involved? Does the DMV have a field agent? How does it all work?

Jason

I did it at a private tag agency when rewetting. Just signed a form stating the boat was used for personal use and had its original engines. Saved $100 a year.

I have both Chris's registered as antiques and next year I will convert the Hatt.

I did mine this spring at the tax office. It just takes a request.

Original year engines, non-commercial use, 30yrs old and your good to go. I'm converting mine next time around.

Does any one know if this is good for other states (Federal classification, or just FLA)? How do you find out?

Thanks guys. I'll probably swing by the tag office this week and take care of everything...will report back on how easy/no-so-easy they make it.

Went to the tag office this afternoon. This was as simple as asking for a status change. They printed out a form I need to sign and send to Tallahassee, and my 2 year registration cost me $12.50. Once the form is sent in, renewals will be at the cost of processing only, with no more paperwork. Definitely worth asking about!!!

how much was it before Jay?

I want to say it was $130 a year...I'll edit this if I'm wrong. So my $270 bill (2 year renewal) was reduced to $12.50!

thats about what I remember too. sooooo long since I thought about it. I guess I will give them a visit.

Guess it's either just my luck or how Duval County works... I've been in 3 times and still haven't gotten mine changed..
But now I'm in Nassau County maybe my luck will change.
